Brad Lear appointed to Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee in Apple Device Performance MDL

Lear Werts partner Brad Lear was appointed by the United States District Court for the Northern District of California to the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee in the Apple Device Performance MDL. Lear Werts had previously filed the first Missouri federal class action lawsuit against Apple challenging the company’s decision to equip their ubiquitous iPhones with allegedly defective batteries and then make surreptitious changes to the phones’ operating systems to slow down the phones in an effort to hide the battery defect. The Northern District of California has been charged with consolidating and managing over 75 class action cases filed against Apple alleging similar claims. The members of the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee will be tasked with helping to fully explore the extent of Apple’s alleged conduct and marshal the case toward resolution.
