Todd Werts teaches CLE classes at Missouri Bar conference

Lear Werts partner, Todd Werts, presented two CLE presentations to fellow Missouri attorneys at the 2019 Solo and Small Firm Conference. Todd joined St. Louis Attorney, Jase Carter, to discuss recent developments in sexual harassment litigation, particularly in smaller communities. He also presented a talk titled An Ounce of Prevention: Avoiding Unintended Consequences from Filing Bankruptcy, which focused on the legal doctrine of judicial estoppel and how it can have the effect to killing meritorious claims that are not appropriately reported when an injured or otherwise harmed person files bankruptcy.

The Missouri Bar Solo and Small Firm Conference is one of the longest-running–and largest–bar conferences in the country devoted to small firm practitioners. Lear Werts has been a long-time sponsor of the conference. In 2019, the firm hosted the Friday evening entertainment and a night cap reception where attorneys from around Missouri could relax, network, and regale each other with war stories.
